Thus begins one of the most famous comedy sketches of all time, from Monty Python’s Flying Circus. A satire on poor customer service. Demonstrating the brilliance of the Monty Python team. It was first aired in 1969 and featured regularly in the group’s shows and live tours, becoming a firm favourite amongst Monty Python fans. Our Steiff Teddy bear pays tribute to the John Cleese character, that of a customer complaining that the parrot purchased “not half an hour ago from this very boutique” is dead. Michael Palin, as the pet shop owner, protests that the Norwegian Blue (“beautiful plumage”) is only “resting”. As subsequent claims and denials only increase the absurdity, it is finally revealed that this is indeed, an “ex-parrot”! Celebrate the unique and timeless humour of Monty Python with us. limited edition of 1969 pieces made of the finest mohair CAUTION! Richard Steiff gifted his bears movement, he turned them upright, jointed their limbs and thus was born the now world-famous Teddy bear. Richard first used string and discs as a method of jointing his bears. Richard then adopted metal rods for jointing his bears. Recognised as the second stage of Richard’s development following the string jointed method, rod jointed bears are viewed as a true treasure. A golden mohair would be Richard’s favoured choice, but he made very few using a white mohair resulting in such examples becoming great rarities. It is a white rarity replicated here. True to the original he has “rod” joints, large black boot button eyes, horizontal seam from ear to ear, sealing was nose, pink stitched mouth and five black stitched claws. He also wears a period correct elephant “Button in Ear”. He encapsulates all those early characteristics and is proud to represent and celebrate one of the earliest surviving designs of Richard Steiff, a true marvel. made of the finest mohair limited edition of 904 pieces CAUTION! ** EUROPEAN EXCLUSIVE - ONLY 2 AVAILABLE ** Determined to make Asterix an anti-hero flying in the face of the established order of the world of comic books, René Goscinny certainly did not want to give his main character a sidekick who would play the classic role of stooge. But Albert Uderzo, somewhat frustrated at not having made Asterix a beefy Gaul like he dreamed, could not resist placing at his side a big strong warrior, more akin to the impressive muscle-bound characters he already excelled at drawing. Although he had only a minor role in the first adventure, Obelix quickly became an essential character that his authors developed as they went along. He is actually the readers’ favourite hero: all opinion polls place Obelix at the top of the list of favourite village characters. In the adventures penned by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, we find him by turns easily offended, sensitive, and definitely a glutton. An overgrown child who grew up too quickly and who is not yet aware of his own strength. In his defence, it must be said that not everyone falls in a cauldron of magic potion when he’s a little boy! limited edition of 750 pieces made of the finest mohair CAUTION!
